Fellows, Steering Committee, Research Committee and Expert Advisory Board meeting 2019

MARCAD Steering Committee, Research Committee and Expert Advisory Board met the PhD and Posdoctoral fellows for an experience sharing, orientation and recommendations meeting on 15 and 16 July 2019 on the sidelines of the DELTAS Africa scientific conference held in Dakar, Senegal.

The meeting was hosted by the MARCAD/ UCAD Secretariat.

In his welcome speech to the attendees, Prof Oumar Gaye, Director  of the Malaria Research Capacity Development in West and Central Africa Director, expressed the importance of the research in  malaria elimination in Africa,  area  where MARCAD fellows are playing a major role through their research results, presented at  the conference during  oral and posters presentation sessions.

It was an opportunity for the fellows to present their major achievements, challenges, and perspectives and to learn from the pertinent advises and contributions given to them by the members of the three Committees, during the question and answer sessions that followed each of their presentations.

This meeting was very important, in the sense that we had an opportunity to have some directions on what to do especially at this stage. I think it was very crucial because now I think the committee knows where we are and what our needs would be at the moment’’ said Dr Akindeh, MARCAD postdoctoral fellow.

The two-day’s meeting has given to the fellows a clear understanding of  some points of their works they should improve and those they need to strengthen. The members of MARCAD committees also provide them with guidance to develop effective strategies for more scientific publications production .

The meeting enabled networking and knowledge sharing between the MARCAD Fellows and Steering Committee, Research Committee and Expert Advisory Board.
